I Was Just a Kid
The Tim Gallant Anthology, Volume 1, stretches back to songs I wrote from 1980–1983 (my mid-teens, essentially). These are the songs penned when I was starting to find my way as a songwriter. Earliest influences included Don Francisco (and a wee bit of Elvis), which you may pick up on here and there, although there’s a bit more in the direction of pop rock toward the end of the collection.
Lyrics tended to gravitate around themes such as holiness and the need for Christ. Some of them definitely come across a bit … harsh, and there is absolutely no doubt that many of them manifest the immaturity one might expect from a youth.
To have something recorded for some of the better material, I did these rough recordings in the mid 2000s (~2007), although more recently I have done a bit of cleanup and remixing on some of them. Audio and lyrics below.
All recordings here are subject to possible future polishing.
